Organized by DeCoSEAS partners Fred Molin and Stevie Nolten with Museum of Impossible Forms, curator and radiomaker Miia Laine.
A panel and listening session was held about the colonial nature of archives, about the violent nature colonial sound recordings how to engage with them ethically and the importance of of making archives a site of engagement as well as questions of ownership and returning sounds to source communities.
The sonic sessions sparked a fruitful discussion about the complicated colonial relation of European sound archives and lack of agency of indigenous communities in Finland, where the history of imperialism is very much different from for example the Netherlands and the UK.
