Organized by DeCoSEAS Institutional Partner the University of the Philippines Center for Ethnomusicology.

On his residency at the University of the Philippines College of Music as culture-bearer of the Talaandig, Datu Rodelio Waway Saway visited the UPCE to listen to recordings from his community recorded in 1969. The listening sessions were intended to collect new information on the recordings from the comments given by Datu Waway. These sessions were recorded as “feedback interview”. During his residency, Datu Waway gave workshops, talks and performances for the students, faculty and the general public.

New data related to the recordings was collected and existing metadata was verified and corrected. Datu Waway was given a copy of the recordings for him to take back to the Talaandig Community. Further engagement with the community was agreed upon, including the transcription and translation of the recordings and the possible purchase of instruments from the community as a form of income generation for the community.
