Decolonization and Music Tourism – Cultural Initiatives from Southeast Asia.
Layan Nijem gave a presentation at the Cape Breton Island Music Tourism Convention with 224 delegates. Their presentation had a particular focus on decolonisation in music tourism with case studies from SEA. Building on DeCoSEAS pillars, it was proposed that they are of crucial importance and are transferable into having ethical, decolonial and sustainable music and cultural tourism.
The presentation introduced 2 DeCoSEAS partners; TAEC in Laos and PHoM as case studies for heritage safeguarding (preserving-presenting).
The PPT slides had QR codes where attendees could navigate directly to the project’s webpage and other relevant websites.
