Barbara Titus gave a guest lecture “Decolonizing Sound Archives in Times of a Pandemic”, during the SoundKnowledge Symposium: Field Research and the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Asian Pacific Region: Building New Knowledge through Music and Sound, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (D).
Fielworkers from Germany, Netherlands and the Asia Pacific gathered on location in Göttingen and online to discuss the implication of the Covid-19 Pandemic for fieldwork into music and sound.
The Covid-19 Pandemic made visible the inequalities between field workers and their human and nonhuman subjects since due to the lockdowns the fieldworkers were confronted with restrictions in their movement that they previously found difficult to imagine but that are daily reality for those whom they are researching.
