We are excited to invite you to the upcoming Mari Ber-Lenso exhibition, an event dedicated to exploring Lenso.
Lenso, a musical genre that emerged during the Soekarno era reflecting the cultural and political landscape of Indonesia from 1950 to 1965, not only embodies the spirit of the time but also serves as a crucial record of the nation’s history, intertwining popular music with major socio-political events.
The exhibition will delve into the importance of archives and documentation in preserving Lenso’s legacy, highlighting the identification of key materials, the contributions of music creators, and the cultural processes that have shaped the Lenso tradition. Through a collection of rare archives, albums, and other musical artifacts, the exhibition will illustrate how various musical and cultural entities interacted, competed, and engaged in dialogue during this dynamic period in Indonesian history.
We invite you to join us for the exhibition’s grand opening on 28-29 September 2024, featuring an exciting talk show and musical performances by @iramapantaiselatan and @dialitachoir.
The exhibition will run from 28 September to 24 November 2024 at the National Museum. Entry is only Rp 5,000 for Indonesian citizens and Rp 25,000 for international visitors. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant history of Lenso music.
